This Privacy Policy governs the manner in which AfroData collects, uses, maintains, and discloses information collected from users (each, a “User”) of the AfroData website (“Site”).

Personal identification information

We may collect personal identification information from Users in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to, when Users visit our site, fill out a form, and in connection with other activities, services, features or resources we make available on our Site.

Users may be asked for, as appropriate, name, email address for contact form or subscription form. Users may, however, visit our Site anonymously. We will collect personal identification information from Users only if they voluntarily submit such information to us. Users can always refuse to supply personally identification information, except that it may prevent them from engaging in certain Site related activities.

Non-personal identification information

We may collect non-personal identification information about Users whenever they interact with our Site. The non-personal identification information may include the browser name, the type of computer and technical information about Users means of connection to our Site, such as the operating system and the Internet service providers’ utilised and other similar information.

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, links, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

Analytics

We also use Google Analytics to allow tracking on the Site through the use of cookies, to, among other things, analyse and track users’ use of the Site determine the popularity of certain content and better understand online activity. We have configured Google Analytics not to collect any personally identifiable data.

You should be aware that getting a new computer, installing a new browser, upgrading an existing browser, or erasing or otherwise altering your browser’s cookies files may also erase tracking cookies.

We delete any non-personal information collected by Google Analytics every 38 months.

Cloudflare

We use Cloudflare as our DNS service provider, content delivery network (CDN) and Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) mitigation solution.

CloudFlare offers a worldwide distributed content delivery network with DNS. Technically, the transfer of information between your browser and our website is routed through the network of CloudFlare. CloudFlare is thus able to analyse the data traffic between users and our websites, for example, to detect and fend off attacks on our services. In addition, CloudFlare may store cookies on your computer for optimisation and analysis.

How we use collected information

AfroData may collect and use Users personal information for the following purposes:

  • To improve our Site – We may use feedback you provide to improve our services.
  • To send periodic emails – We may use the name and email address to respond to their inquiries, questions, and/or other requests.

How we protect your information

We adopt appropriate data collection, storage, and processing practices and security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction of your personal information and data stored on our Site.

Sharing your personal information

We do not sell, trade, or rent Users personal identification information to others. We may use third-party service providers to help administer activities on our behalf, such as sending out newsletters or surveys. We may share your information with these third parties for those limited purposes provided that you have given us your permission.

How long we retain your data

We keep a record of contact form entries for not more than a year and analytics records for 14 months.

What rights you have over your data

Since we do not allow registration on this site, we do not store any personal data about you, except the data that you have provided to us, such as through a contact form or the subscription form.

Although most changes are likely to be minor, we may change our Privacy Policy from time to time, and in our sole discretion. We encourage visitors to frequently check this page for any changes to our Privacy Policy.
